Fun friday feline factoid - first aid kit
I work hard to imagine my cats always being healthy and well. However accidents and illness do happen. I am immensely thankful to live next door to an amazing 24 hour veterinary office, which gives me great peace of mind.
From the Cat Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook
, here is a list of necessary items for your home emergency and medical kit.
From the Cat Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook
- Adhesive tape - 1 inch roll
- Betadine solution (dilute 1:10)
- Container (fishing tackle box)
- Cotton balls
- Cotton-tipped applicators
- Eye dropper (plastic)
- Flashlight
- Gauze pads - 3 x 3 inch
- Gauze roll - 3 inch
- Hairball remedy (commercial or white petroleum jelly)
- Hemostat (curved or straight)
- Hydrogen peroxide (3 percent)
- Linen cloth, sheet or blanket
- Magazines
- Masking tape
- Scalpel
- Scissors (blunt-tipped)
- Syringe, plastic or glass, 10 cc
- Teaspoon
- Thermometer (preferably digital)
- Triple antibiotic ointment
- Tweezers (thumb forceps)
I realize that even though the vet is next door, I still need to get one of these together. The first chapter of the Cat Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook
is on emergencies and I assume they tell you what to do with these various items. I for one, can't imagine using a scalpel on my cat - I just can't see it.

jealousy
Is it wrong to be jealous of a cat?!
I came home this afternoon to this scene:
Rose snuggled in while reclining her head on Nahum's soft warm and fuzzy tummy. Those two really know how to snuggle.

pre-wash
Cats don't seem to like to work, they like the easy life.
Theo on the other hand has found his niche. He frequently attempts to offer his services when it comes to cleaning the dishes. He sells his service as a helpful pre-wash.
This is just another example of how I need to be on guard with Theo when it comes to any type of food or trace of food. Theo is not permitted to assist with the dishes. His attempts result in him getting a wet fanny from a water pistol. Although, I'm not sure what good it does, he seems to just accept the wet fanny as a occupational hazard, certainly not a deterrent!

project
I recently purchased an elliptical trainer exercise machine that required assembly. It came in a huge box with a thousand pieces. Thankfully, Nahum and Theo offered to help.
Nahum supervising.
Theo looking for the next part to assemble.
Nahum found his part.
Theo keeping watch.
