inside-kitty-wanna-be

Oliver's making a very compelling case for being an inside-kitty. He sure does LOVE being inside!

Too bad he's so territorial and urine marks everything!  I really wish I could leave him inside forever.

He hasn't had the chance to come inside in quite some time as I've had way too much going on and haven't had time to hang out with him. Because of his spraying behavior, when he's inside he needs to have constant supervision, otherwise I'll find a messy, unpleasant surprise! Yuck!

As you can see, he's started chewing off his furs again. For most of the summer he took a break from that behavior and let his furs grow out - he looked great! But about a month or so ago, he started again. I have no idea why he does it. I've tried all sorts of things to stop the spraying and fur chewing but nothing seems to work. He's still my Oliver and I'm crazy about him!

  3. Good for you to let Oliver come in. Wonder if losing the hair is from allergies. We have cats that spray when they come in and I do not have a good answer. I usually spray some funny smelling stuff to maybe keep them from spraying themselves but it is hard to spray the whole house. Maybe when he gets used to the other cats smells, he will quit. Good luck.

  4. I know you wrote that you tried many things, have you used the Feliway sprays and plug ins? Or maybe some kitty prozac to calm him so he won't feel the need to be so teritorial. He looks like a sweetie. 15andmeowing

    1. Yep, have tried both Feliway and kitty prozac and sadly, neither solved the problem.

  5. maybe he is doing it because he wants to come in? Hoping that in time he will be inside if that is what he wants!

    1. he does want to come in, for sure. he sprays all around the property outside. he routinely goes on his patrols renewing the marks as he goes. I think he does the same when he's inside.

  6. I wish I had some suggestion for either the spraying issue or his fur-chewing. He's a sweetie, though, such a love bug. :-)

  9. We are getting some of Jackson Galaxy's Spirit Essence - Safe Space Cat. We are hopeful it will help our neurotic boy JayJay who has developed some of these pesky "spritzing" habits recently. He was never an outdoor fellow - and nothing new here, just moved to a new home in April and he is still feeling sensitive about the surroundings. Will let you know if it helps!

  11. I've heard that Feliway works, but not for my cats, and neither did the Kitty Prozac. Hope you find a solution for Oliver; he's a handsome boy!
