I'm not a big fan of the Fourth of July, mainly because of the people who set off fireworks in my area. The loud noises scare the cats. This year seemed worse than usual. Oliver was hunched up by the back door, all terrified. I couldn't just leave him nor could I bring him inside, so I did the next best thing. I grabbed my sleeping bag and setup camp in the mudroom.
I turned on some music and we spent the night cuddled up together on my sleeping bag. It was the best I could do for him.
In other news, Oliver is going to the vet this afternoon. He has developed a rather large lump somewhere in his chest. I noticed it earlier in the week and it just seems to be getting bigger. It feels under the skin a bit. I have no idea what it could be, but it is worrisome.
And Buddy went to the emergency vet on Wednesday night because he just keeps horking. He horked six times that day and had blood in his stool. Blood work and x-rays indicating no obvious signs of trouble, so we are left guessing. Meanwhile, he continues to hork. We're giving him Pepcid and Fortiflora, but other than that, not sure what to do now. If it continues we might return him to the vet on Saturday.
Purrs from the boys for both Oliver and Buddy. Very stressful and worrisome times for you all. We'll hope for good updates!
ReplyDeleteWe're sending purrs for you boys, too. We hope things gets better since the holiday is over. XOXO
ReplyDeleteWe don't like the noise either. My one cat hides under my bed. Hope Buddy will be ok.
ReplyDeletePoor boys, everything seems to come at once...I do hope they are both fine soon.

That was such a nice thing to do. We were so worried about our ferals with all the boomies.
ReplyDeletePoor kitties. Mine are not bothered by the noise so we're lucky. The girl cats are sending purrs to your boy cats. We hope nothing is seriously wrong.
ReplyDeleteMy two youngest were not bothered too bad by it. Playing feather totally took their mind off of it, followed by a catnip party! Marigold disappeared and was eventually discovered hiding in a towel cupboard, she got into. I just left her there. Good thing you have a vet across the street. They can probably fix Oliver up. He seems to be young and strong.
ReplyDeleteGreg
well yikes..... so glad you were there to comfort Oliver - hope his kids got some comfort from you being close. Purrs to all of you and hopefully it isn't anything serious for Oliver or Buddy.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope both boys are OK!! I hate fireworks and the bangs scare me and my kitties!
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to take care of Oliver by camping out with him. I remember doing that once several years ago in our laundry room. I just hate fireworks for all the outdoor animals.
ReplyDeleteI hope Buddy is OK. That is worrisome. I hope Oliver is OK too.
Hoping that all is well with Oliver. You are wonderful that you set up camp with him like that. Praying all goes well with him.
ReplyDeleteAs for Buddy, that's strange, XRays fine and still doing it. Hopefully he will be well soon as well!
I hope everything is all right with Oliver's lump. That is concerning, as is Buddy's borking. My first cat once had a real horking marathon, and it ended up being a piece of thread that was wrapped tightly around the base of his tongue, so it was gagging him.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the boys. Do hope both are now on the mend. Let us know how they're doing. Hugs to them!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet that you did that for Oliver. We know he appreciated it so much. So sorry about Buddy. Maybe he needs a different type of food. Hope he quits hurling pretty soon. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteYou are the best kitty Dad around, spending the night with Oliver. I bet that helped calm him down a lot. Good job.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am very sorry to hear Buddy is not well. I hope he starts feeling better soon. Poor guy. Prayers and purrs being sent his way.
Buddy darling, I wonder if there is an obstruction? I am releived about the bloodfwork and xray but me needs a CT scan I think. I know..$$$$$. Probably a couple hundred dollars.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for helping Oliver cope. You are THE best Daddy there IS!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you camped out with Oliver. Poor guy, it must be so scary when you have no idea what's going on.
ReplyDeletePoor Buddy, I hope you can figure this out. Nothing more stressful than an animal being sick and you have no idea why.
