snuggle champions

Day after day, these two show off their snuggle-prowess

I'm guessing they are practicing for the upcoming Cat-Olympics championship snuggle event

Happy Friday!!

caturday!

My Saturday started as most days do, I got up and went about my morning routine. But then as I was about to pop into the bathroom and get my shower something unexpected happened, Oliver got up on the bed and looked at me. Not just any look, he had a look like he wanted something, an invitational look - he wanted to cuddle. So, not being one to pass up such an invitation, I obliged.

Next thing I knew...

Then a little while later...

And then...

Theo had to come check out the cuddlefest and made himself a little fort on the other side of the bed...

What's missing in these pictures is the sound of the purrs! When Oliver's relaxed, his purr gets super loud.

And then...

Nahum came for a visit too...

Oliver never left his cuddly spot on the bed! I don't remember the last time I spent most of the day cuddling with my precious Oliver. This was certainly the first time since he became an inside cat and it was lovely to not have to worry about him jumping down and peeing on something and I'm sure he enjoyed not having to worry about when he was going to get deported.

Purrfect way to spend a caturday!!

Happy Caturday to you!

cuddle monster

Theo - high strung tabby or cuddle monster?!

Theo has been quite the cuddle bug lately. Years ago when I got into bed for the night he would hop up on my chest and have "Theo time" - loves, pets, purrs, and he would drool! (in my mouth if I wasn't careful!) Recently he's resumed his nightly ritual! Cuddle kitties are the best!

Willow Wednesday

Woke from a nap to find Willow napping on my chest.

a few words wednesday

It's that time of the year...

Oct 26, 2015
when the temperature drops and cuddle season starts!

Pierre loves to climb on top of Oliver and snooze. I'd guess Pierre weighs about 12 lbs (5.4 kg), that's a lot of weight to have resting on top of a 17 lb (7.7 kg) kitty! Oliver's such a good sport!

taken hostage

Another Oliver ambush...

as soon as I open the door he pops in and melts...

into a lap full of purring kitty putty...

what's a cat guy to do?

Oliver gets his way again.

almost there

I'm grateful this long, dreadful week is finally coming to a close. It's not been a fun week. Ugh.

Meanwhile, while I'm slaving away at the office with what's left of this work week, Pierre and Oliver are enjoying a nice cuddle on the back porch. The life of cats.

I'm trying, trying, trying not to be jealous...

May your weekend bring rest and joy!

work interrupted

I haven't been posting much lately nor visiting all my favorite blogs as I've been quite a bit more busy than usual. A never ending TNR project has been consuming gobs of time and my work load has picked up. I've been posting my TNR adventures over on backyardTNR, but that hasn't left energy for much else. Thankfully, that TNR project is almost wrapped up, so maybe soon, life will settle in again.

Meanwhile, Willow remains super-snuggly. This is a major shift in her personality, which took place immediately after getting a few of her teeth pulled a few months ago.

How was I suppose to get any work done with Willow being so snuggly and cute?! These pictures don't capture her purr motor going full speed!

Considering the situation, I did the only logical thing...

I texted Laura lots of Willow pictures so she couldn't work either!

Willow wasn't the only one being cute.

Sleeping Nahum is always cute.

Happy Friday!!!

bonded pair

MK and Pierre are a bonded pair of ferals. This is the scene I was greeted with this morning when I brought Oliver outside in the morning:

After breakfast and a romp with Oliver around the yard, MK and Pierre have settled into Oliver's house, where they are enjoying a nice cuddle:

Meanwhile, I've been devising my plan for trapping the new cat who's been coming around.

This boy has a date at the neuter clinic tomorrow morning!

I wonder if he's related somehow to Oliver and the family. He's black with a small white patch on his chest and he looks to be about Oliver's size.

Trapping him will be a challenge, as I don't want to trap MK, Pierre, or Nora. I'll bring Oliver inside the house, so he won't be around to chase off the new boy. At first I thought I would use a regular trap, but then I realized that won't work, because I'll need to selectively trap to make sure I get the right cat.

Oliver snoopervises Pierre as he eats the bait!

I have decided to go with the drop trap. This way I can sit in the car, and wait and watch. Of course, determining one black cat from another in the dark is a bit of a challenge. So, even with the drop trap, odds are high I could get the wrong cat.

I'll be up late tonight waiting for the new boy to get under the drop trap - then he's mine!

love

The world needs more love

Thank you everyone for your ideas and words of reassurance about the fence situation. I'll be talking with the new neighbors about Oliver and The Family at the next opportunity. Once everything is settled with the new fence, I'll see what I can do about making some sort of interesting bird sanctuary. It will be a challenge to get much to grow there as that strip of land between house and fence will get next to no sunlight. This will be my chance to be creative.

staying warm

We're in the midst of another crazy cold time.

Oliver and his sons know how to best stay warm - cuddle!

Even with all these kitties cuddled up on toasty warm heating pads, I still wish I could do more to keep them warmer. Of course Oliver spends his nights inside, where he's safe and warm. I tried locking MK inside with Oliver the other night, but MK cried and cried, so I let him back out. Can't move too fast.

I do love seeing them snuggled up on the heating pads in their insulated homes, so much better than trying to sleep out in the open. Through out my work days, I tune into my outdoor kitty cams and warm my heart seeing warm kitties!

I hope you all are staying warm too and getting good cuddles!

midnight cuddles

Each time I wake in the middle of the night I get to see Rori cuddled up with Nahum. They look so peaceful, so perfect.

Tuesday night:

Wednesday night:

And here I've been worried about separating sisters, Diva and Rori but really, I should be more worried about separating Rori from Uncle Nahum.  She adores cuddling with him.

too cold

The weather station last night said we were in for the coldest night we've had in four years. When I checked the temperature last night it was 13°F (-10°C), too cold for Oliver to be spending outside, even with his many heated spaces. So, after he asked several times to come inside where it's warm, his wish was granted!!

Oliver spent the night in the small bedroom/office curled up on the heating pad I put in there for him. Seeing him warm and happy made me so happy! Maybe this can be the start of something wonderful! Then I'll have to figure out how to get his family inside too!

It was a bit chilly in the house last night, but Rori figured out how to stay toasty warm:
