love

The world needs more love

Thank you everyone for your ideas and words of reassurance about the fence situation. I'll be talking with the new neighbors about Oliver and The Family at the next opportunity. Once everything is settled with the new fence, I'll see what I can do about making some sort of interesting bird sanctuary. It will be a challenge to get much to grow there as that strip of land between house and fence will get next to no sunlight. This will be my chance to be creative.

  1. Oh dear, I am just catching up with you. That fence situation is worrying. As a homeowner, I understand how fences do not always conform to property lines. Sometimes a new homeowner will respect the [incorrect but nicer and more neighborly] fence line, but sometimes not. I hope that you [and Oliver's family] can find a silver lining in this dilemma.

  2. Your new neighbor has cats and that is itself encouraging. Better that than one who has dogs and hates cats! Most people have fences at their property line and we have to live with it.

Shade loving plants do exist so take heart. Contact greenhouse personnel for ideas and create a plan. You can add a bright birdhouse, yard ornaments and a little art on the new fence. Shop thrift stores--if it isn't valuable it's potential garden décor :)

  3. There is grass that is specifically designed for low light, you might want to check into that. I am sure you can come up with some interesting cat oriented fun in the back yard you will have and they will enjoy it.

  4. I think a bird sanctuary will be a wonderful idea - and ivy on your side of the fence will help too. I hope your new neighbors understand your concerns and are sensitive to how it will change YOUR lives too!

    Hugs, Sammy
