MK is missing

It's been a difficult week here at the Fourwhitepaws Hobby Cattery. It is with great sadness that I report that MK has gone missing. I last saw him the morning of July 4th when he was with Pierre and Oliver for breakfast, as is typical. But after all the crazy simulated war experience from that evening, (idiot neighbors shooting off fireworks) he has not returned.

MK is semi-feral, like his brother Pierre. MK loves Oliver and Pierre and would often spend the evenings and nights with his best friend Pierre. It's extremely unusual for him to be gone so long. I fear something may have happened to him or he got scared and hid in some tight space that hasn't been able to free himself.

I've looked at the shelter intake registry and nothing matches him and nothing is posted on Craigslist. I hung some posters around the area and posted something on Craigslist in case someone has seen him. I also did the long walk all around the neighborhood looking for some sign of him.

MK - please come home, we miss you!

Oliver was safely inside the night of the 4th. He was beyond terrified. As is the norm for that night, I pitched my sleeping bag in his room and cuddled with him all night so he could feel safe. He cuddled in until the crazy subsided. Pierre somehow survived the night, I'm thankful he's safe and sound.

I haven't given up all hope that MK might return, but he's never disappeared for this long before. He's not friendly at all, so no one's going to snatch him. I'm feeling torn up inside as my heart is broken. I so wanted to keep Oliver's family safe and together, and now I feel I have failed. I'm sure Pierre must be heart broken too, not having his buddy around.

  1. You haven't failed....and we hope that MK is safe and just hiding out somewhere. Another reason to ban fireworks. We got our paws crossed and our purrs revved that he comes home soon.

  2. No, you haven't failed at all. Quite the opposite, you've made all their lives wonderful and amazing, given them everything. Seriously, how many people would crash in a sleeping bag to keep a "former" feral company and ensure he felt safe?

We, too, have our paws crossed that MK will come home soon. Don't give up! Purrs.

  3. You have NOT failed. The cities and Counties have done the failing by not outlawing these stupid fireworks practices and enforcing when they DO have laws against it. Poor baby. But there is still hope...still hope We will ALL pray he comes home.

  5. Such sad news, but prayers that MK will return. As everyone else has said, you did not fail...you do so much for these wonderful cats and Oliver would not be safe if not for you. I hate fireworks!

  6. Do not stop looking. Yes, the fireworks here were like Normandy on D-Day. My inside cats were very frightened, but there was nothing to do about it. Paws crossed.

  10. We once had a black cat that disappeared for months, but returned quite unexpectedly none the worse for wear. So hang in there. Don't give up hope.

  15. Mom says it hurts her heart that MK is missing, but says don't give up hope. Our angel Louise became frightened once and went into a neighbor's basement. After searching and putting up posters and checking anywhere possible with no luck, we suspected she was shut in somewhere. We even checked our neighbor's basement. She was there but stayed hidden. It took two weeks for her to get brave and hungry enough to let the neighbor know she was in the basement. We will purr and Mom will pray for MK's safe return.
