Lets consider the options.
- Try to fall back to sleep with no room to move and with only enough sheet to cover half of me while the cats stretch out and enjoy most of the bed.
- Attempt to steal some of Laura's side of the bed.
- Do what Nahum does and love on the cat who's in the space I want until they move from the love-overload.
- Get up and adore how cute the sleeping cats are.
- Relocate the cats.
What would you do?
This is a fairly regular event in my life (the cats taking my bed space, not the roiling gut!), so, I get lots of experience with this situation. Oddly enough, relocating the cats is not an option that ever enters my mind. Here's what I do:
I get up and delight in how cute the sleeping cats are! There is something so heart warming about watching cats sleep, and this night was a special treat. Willow was snuggling with Theo by using his back as her pillow! You can see in this second picture how much Theo really stretches out and owns the bed!
The typical formation consist of Willow in my foot space and Theo stretched along my side. Every time I wake and check out their cutes, Willow's purring away. I swear, that girl leaves her purr motor running all the time!
There is nothing better than sleeping with cats. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI was going for either #1 or #3. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI move them. I will often love on them till they leave, but The Crew is catching on to that and will let me love on them till *I* give up..
ReplyDeleteI hate moving them, but then that voice that tells me that they have access to the bed 24/7 and I am lucky if I get 8 hours a day, and then I don't feel so bad.
Add a couple of dogs to the mix and that's what I go thru!
ReplyDeleteNow me...relocating Katie, just as with the Admiral is not an option though I suffer every single night because it isn't an option. I just can't do it.
ReplyDeleteKatie, if you've read her blog on those more notable occasions, spreads and stretches out and expands to take every inch of the bed from my back onward to the other side. I am relegated to the 6 inches left unoccupied by her, along the outside edge of the mattress. She gets the blanket and sheet to rest upon and I may or may not be granted a shard to cover my feets with. Maybe. So, I grin (not) and bear it.
Can we come live with you??? Our mom is mean and makes us move.....
ReplyDeleteHA! Our Dad goes to the living room and sleeps on the couch!
ReplyDeleteI simply don't move. I am usually pinned in between two tuxie girls at night.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I get up at that point for a bathroom break. My kitties will follow allowing me to reclaim my place when I get back in bed. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Human says: Aww, they are just adorable! Spitty never used to come anywhere near the bed if I were in it, but lately he sometimes sleep waaaaaaaaaaay over in the corner of it, but if I wake and notice him, he always skedaddles as though I might get all grabby-hands with him which is not allowed except at his initiation!
ReplyDeleteYa know, I have 7 cats...at least 4 sleep on the bed every night along with 2 black lab/Rotties...thing is, they all just kind of move with me...if I adjust and they get bumped, they readjust and all is good again...
ReplyDeleteBed buddies....well, Sam no longer sleeps with us as it's tough for him to hop up on the bed and he REFUSES to use kitty stairs or a chair, etc. to help.....so husband and I now have the WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE thing to ourselves. I have to admit though - I miss having a kitty to snuggle with!

Yup, I have a 3-cat night every night--such a comfort it is sleeping with cats. You have a cat purrfect attitude!
ReplyDeleteOne cat on my pillow, the other on my legs and they want move, but I love them!

Wes gets relocated. Mommy or Daddy will move us and then we curl up in a other warm spot! And wes don't even really wakes up! now if one of the airy slobbery sisters is on the bed, wes can take over the middle!

This is an every night occurrence at our house. Some of us don't sleep on the bed very often, but the majority of us are there every night. With eight cats, even a king-sized bed is not enough for two humans. Mom usually gets up and uses the facilities a couple of times during the night. Some of us have a tendency to follow after her, so when she comes back to bed, she has a space to crawl into. Dad just sleeps through the whole thing; though, we hear him complaining in the morning how he had no room in the bed. Boo Hoo is all we have to say. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
ReplyDeleteI usually end up going with option #1 myself... :)
