I was walking down the pet aisle at a local grocery store and noticed this:
It's the usual collection of grocery store flea and tick control toxins for cats and dogs, stuff I usually just walk right by. But a cat photo grabbed by attention.
Now, if I were trying to sell cheap flea and tick control products I would want to show a relaxed cat on the box to give the impression that this product doesn't freak out cats.
Then the other day, I noticed this sign in the exam room at my vet's office. As I was waiting with Buddy, I studied it. The dog in the first picture looks calm, like it is enjoying itself with the guy.
Now, look at the cat:
This is not a happy kitty!! Eyes dilated, whiskers forward, ears at the ready - this cat is not even close to being calm.
What these advertisers need are some relaxed, good looking cats to get their message across, as these kitties demonstrate:
Bear (Felix) and Diva
Rori
Rori
Willow
good point.... :) and nice relaxed cats you have there
ReplyDeleteI was unable to see the pictures except your beloved babies.
ReplyDeleteweird!! At least you could see the most important kitties!
Deletethat they are (and I couldn't see them either)
DeleteHa ha ha you can tell those advertisers are not cat owners! If they were someone most certainly would come up with a safe non toxic way to control fleas.
ReplyDeleteYOU made an excellent point.
They seem so relaxed ans quiet :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! I always notice things like this, so I was amused you do, too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteExactly right!! Good point.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Maybe subconsciously I notice the "notamused" kitties and thus, that's why I never buy their products...
ReplyDeleteI don't understand advertisers. Maybe they should feed the kitties yummy treats or something before they take photos. The poor cat in the sign looks so freaked out.
ReplyDeleteBwwwwahhh!!!! Brilliant observations, especially the first one!
ReplyDeleteI viewed your source to view the images (as they weren't showing up for me but they did when I clicked the urls in the source) and I could not agree more with you.. I HATE it when cats in advertisements clearly don't want to be there..
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I get off of here I'm going to try out a couple of those poses, for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI'd buy a product with your cats on the box any day. Do you think the next picture the photographer took of the orange cat showed the model with four red lines down her cheek???
ReplyDeleteHaha, that made me laugh! What are those advertisers thinking??
