Oliver is on the mend. Vet said the lump is just an abscess, so we are treating it with antibiotic and warm cloth. Getting him to sit still long enough for the warm cloth is a challenge!
Buddy continues to struggle. He continues to vomit a lot, and now doesn't really want to eat. Thankfully, he still nibbles on food occasionally. He's more lethargic and often looks uncomfortable. When I saw him not react to Oliver in the upstairs window, I knew he's really not feeling well. He probably lacks the energy to leap up onto the furniture to get to the window and put on a tough-kitty display for Oliver.
Twice now he's horked while pooping in the litter box. This time he managed to get poop all over his back legs - poor guy. He got an quick bath, something he was not fond of but oddly didn't fight, another sign of his lack of energy.
We were planning to go out of town for two weeks, leaving this coming weekend. But with Buddy as he is, I'm not sure I can do that. Hopefully, we will learn more on Tuesday, when he goes back to the vet. Please pray/purr for him.
BIG purrs for both your boys! I hate it when one of the Horde isn't feeling well, it's so scary. Is there someone who could house/cat sit for you?
ReplyDeleteWe actually have a friend who is planning to stay at the house with the cats, but even with that, I'm not sure I could leave him and it would be a lot of stress/work for the friend. It's a possibility that's still on the table.
ReplyDeleteI am glad Oliver is doing better and we are all sending our best purrs and prayers to dear Buddy. Poor guy, we hope he gets feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteWe're purring hard for Buddy. So glad Olive seems to be doing well. As per his pics. MOL! Great bellah shot!
ReplyDeleteGood to know Oliver will be fine. Purring for Buddy!
ReplyDeleteWe're glad Oliver is doing well, but are purring hard for Buddy. Definitely more tests, or maybe even another vet at a different clinic, if necessary.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Oliver is on the mend. Sending big purrs for Buddy. He does not sound well. Charlie is sending good thoughts for both guys!
ReplyDeleteLinda
Many purrs for Buddy and Oliver. and yourselves.. missing a trip can be stressful in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteIt's a horrible feeling when one of them is sick, and we don't know the reason why. Good news about Oliver!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Gastro issues are so hard to diagnose... Have they done an X-ray??? It might be helpful.
ReplyDeleteSending our purrs and prayers to Buddy~ and Oliver~!!
ReplyDeletepoor boys....we will continue to purr for them both and we hope you can get some good news Tuesday
ReplyDeletePoor Buddy and Oliver! Sounds like Oliver is on the mend, but maybe Buddy is getting worse :( Have they ruled out hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver)? If he goes off food, that can spiral rather quickly. We had a kitty years back that we treated like it was hepatic lipidosis - feeding tube, anti nausea meds, antacids, you name it - only to clear that up enough and find pancreatitis - could Buddy possibly have that? Or the fatty liver? Both have similar treatment plans - love, supportive care, force or tube feeding, anti nausea meds...and more patience...a gurky kitty isn't inclined to want food, tube - force, offered - all makes them nauseous...but it does often pay off. Keeping the boys in my thoughts. I too would not be able to travel if one was feeling out of sorts :/
ReplyDeleteBuddy & Oliver, you are in our prayers! ~xo~
ReplyDeletegreat news about Oliver, still sending purrs and prayers for Buddy on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Oliver is on the mend. We are sending lots of purrs and hugs for Buddy. Any chance he could have swallowed some string?
ReplyDeleteOh dear! I'm glad for the good news about Oliver, but worried about Buddy! I always felt as if our cats, especially Skootch, had a sixth sense about impending vacations for the humans. He has always had somewhat delicate health, but he would seem to take a "turn" for the worse whenever we were planning to go away. Buddy sounds pretty serious, and I hope the vet has done plenty of tests to see what might be wrong. Poor thing, and poor you!
ReplyDeletePlease keep us posted.
Purrrrrrs.
I am very happy about Oliver but I am deeply concerned for Buddy. I couldn't leave either if Buddy is so sick. When Admiral was still here I had to not leave for trips several times. Her eating was so tenuous.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know what the Vet says and maybe even a second opinion?
