notch

The other day I noticed Pierre is sporting a new notch on his right ear.

He has his TNR eartip on his left ear.

I have no idea how he did this.

I've never seen him fight, he doesn't seem the type.

Oh how I wish I could take the ferals inside and keep them forever safe.

  1. I know you do. I can read it with every post. Pierre my sweet one, did you get into a fight? I wish your foster Daddy there could take you to the Vet and make sure you don't develop an infection.

  3. We know you do too. we also think he has the best life possible and probably is quite happy being able to come and go, yet have food and an outdoor home too.

  4. He has the best of both worlds. Sometimes that is all we can do.

  5. You do your best. Our Mommy purrays efurry night that someday there will be no more ferals and shelter cats.

Anyway, he does look rakishly handsome!

  7. It looks like the type of cut some of our vets leave on the TNR cats. Could he have been caught by someone else (who didn't realize the mark on his left ear meant he has been neutered?) whose vet uses this method? Maybe they decided to leave the V notch to make it easier to identify his status from far (it does seem silly, but it's been done here, so just thought I'll bring it up).

  8. That happened to Abby. I am trying to pin down exactly when. Right now I am going through all of the photos I have of her and cataloging them. It will take me a long while. But sometime it looks like in 2010 one of the cats got a hold of Abby's ear and gave her a notch too. It is so noticeable to me as I work through many of the older pictures I have without a notch. So, it happens to indoors kitties too. Someone landed a good swipe on her.

  9. Maybe he went on a train ride without a ticket. The conductor clipped his ear instead of a ticket.

  11. I know you worry about your ferals. It's hard. Purrs for Pierre. He is such a handsome kitty, and you hate to see him get chewed up. Even though Louie is strictly indoors, I noticed he has a bunch of scratch marks on his nose, simply from roughhousing with Wilbur.
