Oliver and MK having some fun
Oliver watches MK play with the bunny
Through the power of technology, I am able to record Oliver's comings and goings on his porch. Oliver and MK spend much of the night together, playing and just hanging out together. More and more I see them play, which is so much fun. I've provided them a selection of toys, the nip nanner is the definitely the most popular. Here's a short video of Oliver and MK having a good time.
I could watch these ferals for hours. It's so fun to see them having fun and enjoying themselves. There's so much more to life for a cat than just day to day surviving. Helping the ferals have some safe, playful fun in their lives makes them happy and makes me happy.
I think Oliver was getting some "backup" to keep other neighborhood kitties away :) Smart Oliver! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet! We loved watching that video of Oliver playing with his mates.
ReplyDeleteWhat made you suspect Oliver was having his buddies over at night?
It was two things. I kept noticing an increase in the amount of stray bedding on the floor. Oliver's guest house, which is currently on the back porch, has a bunch of stray in it as bedding. Each day I would pick up all the stray and the next morning there would be lots more everywhere. Oliver rarely goes in there. Even with all the video surveillance I have, I've still not figured out who is the one making the mess.
DeleteThe second thing was at times I would go out to the back porch at night and I would hear the sound of a cat jumping down and running away. Oliver doesn't spook anymore when I go out there so I deduced there had to be a cat out there who does spook, and sure enough, I was right!
So fabulous that they have their safe place to hang out!

Wasn't that a party?!?! I love the pictures and video. It's wonderful that you have provided a safe haven when they can relax and have fun!!!!
ReplyDeletethat WAS a party.... we love that you have given these kitties a safe place - where they can relax a little :)
ReplyDeleteI can't say enough how grateful I am and how much I admire you for what you are doing. I will go watch the video now. I know already I will love it.

Oh and did you see the address for looking at the stan=ined glass art I provided so that you can have one of Max? If not I will send it again.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did get the address from you, so thanks!
DeleteThe video is one I will watch again..I loved it.
ReplyDeleteOh that Oliver is a great host for his late night parties! Love the photos and the video! Always fun to watch kitties playing! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI think your porch has become some sort of clubhouse. Yoo-hoo! Party on!!!
ReplyDeleteHow nice you can watch the kitties enjoying themselves! If the cats aren't messing up the straw at night, do you suppose another critter is doing it during the day?
ReplyDeleteI've seen the straw move around on the overnight videos, so I know it is happening at night, I just haven't seen what cat is doing it. Part of the problem is the lighting on the porch is not great and that combined with black cats and the camera's resolution not being great means details are difficult to make out sometimes. Although, I suppose the Evil Bushy Kitty could be coming around during the day and messing things up too, that would be something it would do! I'll do some more investigational work and report back.
DeleteVery entertaining video to view! I agree with Narissa above, it is a clubhouse for cats--like "The Little Rascals." I assume they are safe on the porch from wild dogs and other animals? Evil Bushy-tail Kitty is the one to watch out for!
ReplyDeleteI'm not aware of any dangerous critters being in my immediate area. I live in a downtown city neighborhood, with little undeveloped land around. I'm sure raccoons are around the neighborhood, I just don't have any nearby lately. I suppose it's probably a matter of time before one wanders through and discovers the food.
DeleteI suppose I should be pro-active and just assume that a raccoon will eventually find the food and thus I should plan accordingly now. I'll give it some thought and devise a plan. Stay tuned!
Oliver party boy!!
ReplyDeleteTee hee.

You've got your own feral farm there. Lots of entertainment if you can't sleep.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing Oliver and the others playing. Love the videos of your inside gang, too. Things sure do get musical at feeding time, don't they? Glad nobody is spoiled at your house.
ReplyDeleteParty all night - how fun!! It's so wonderful Oliver has a safe place to play with toys and friends. I enjoyed the video very much!
