*Oliver's not really dead, he just fell asleep after having his tummy rubbed. Oliver sometimes works long hours and doesn't get much sleep. When Oliver's family comes at night to visit, he's a very gracious host. Usually his family leaves in the early morning, giving him some time off before he visits with me but yesterday morning he had to work late.

Oliver's family is at ease when he's in the yard with them, they often roll around, play or just hang out in his presence. When Oliver's not around they remain on guard and stick to business of eating, drinking and being very watchful.

MK and his unnamed sibling enjoy a snuggle together
by the catnip tree, while Oliver keeps watch.
Oliver is technically still an outside cat. We have a ritual going where every morning he meets me at the front door. I let him into the enclosed front porch, pick him up and open the front door to let the inside cats come onto the enclosed front porch while I carry Oliver upstairs to the bedroom for some private inside time. We hang out and snuggle for as much time as I have that particular morning. He so loves this time, and I have to admit, I kind of love it too! He purrs and purrs as he soaks up the love. Each day he seems to get sweeter and sweeter. I can't believe he was homeless and without human loves for so long. Thankfully that chapter of his life is over and he now knows he is treasured and precious.
OMC, those first two pics are hilarious, and so wonderful. He's so blissed out, Phil, so loved. Makes my heart happy!
ReplyDeleteHaha...My Lucius loves to lay on his back too! <3 Oliver! :)
ReplyDeleteMY heart is happy too. Oliver looks like a well loved and precious- to -you cat. I am so happy for him. For his family too who have a loving place to rest, eat, drink and relax without any real fear of having to fight. I so wish Buddy would relent.
ReplyDeleteawwww - what a sweet panther cat. We are so glad he and his family found your yard and your heart. He is adorable - love that he is so comfortable so snooze like that on his back. :)
ReplyDeleteIf he were any more relaxed he would be pudding! MOL! Enjoy those tummeh rubbins Oliver!

Those must be some tummy rubs! Lucky boy Oliver.
ReplyDeleteOh, Oliver, what a way to go!
ReplyDeleteOliver sure does enjoy his belly rubs! Such funny pictures of him on his back!
ReplyDelete'Way to go Oliver. Have to admit there are times in this heat that that posture would be welcomed!
ReplyDeleteOliver is absolutely adorable. I wonder what the story is with all the other black cats? Are they really all siblings? That's a lot of stray cats in one area. That's so awesome of you to offer them a place of comfort.
ReplyDeleteAw Oliver, you are such a precious baby! You are so great taking care of your family. I'm very happy you are getting and enjoying true love that you deserve!
ReplyDeleteThat total relaxation is one of the reasons I LOVE cats!! You know Oliver is special to me also. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeletethank goodness for you... he is a dear... We haven't been visiting because we have been away and then encumbered with extra work that going on holiday entails. Lovely to be back. Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx
ReplyDeleteBe sure you read the book Taming Me (which will be released on National Feral Cat Day, I just reviewed it a week or so ago)....the scenario you have just described was written almost identically in the book....Oliver just might be on his way to becoming a housecat :)
ReplyDeletedeath by tummy rubs* -- what a way to go.
ReplyDeleteKeep working it, Oliver. You'll be sleeping with the beans shortly.
If you have to go, that isn't a bad way to do it! He looks so happy
